Why The Roots Were Right

or Why Michele Bachmann is, in fact, a Lyin’ Ass Bitch.

OK...OK, I hesitate to call her a bitch, because it is sexist. I advocate taking Maya Rudolph’s lead and for everyone to start adopting the term “Lady Bastard.” It’s just funnier.

So by now everyone has heard about the The Roots playing Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch on Jimmy Fallon during Michele Bachmann’s intro. In case you have no idea what I’m talking about please see the video below. Otherwise, skip it and keep reading.

Of course this was followed by apologies from NBC, Jimmy Fallon, and ?uestlove of The Roots. The band issued a statement that said "the performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur-of-the-moment decision." which, admittedly, is a pretty lame apology. No one believes that shit. Why? Because Michele Bachmann is a lyin’ ass bitch. Superficially the Bachmann camp has a point about how if it was Michelle Obama (with two L’s...like a real American!) being introduced that way people on the Left would freak out. And they would. Here is the big difference: Michelle Obama is not a liar. Bachmann is a confirmed liar. She is a liar and delusional.

Some examples after the jump....

Here is a litany of lies via USNews:

  • She lied about profiting from government subsidized dairy farms. She also stated that she and her husband never made a penny from the family dairy farm, but her financial disclosure forms report that from 2006-2009 she made $32,503-$105,000 in profit from that farm.
  • She stated that then speaker Nancy Pelosi ran up a $100,000 bar bill on military jets when it actually totaled less than $7,000.
  • She stated Social Security is broke when it has a surplus.
  • She said that 30 percent of all doctors will leave their profession under Obamacare; not true.
  • She said that Acorn is a paid part of the Census Bureau; it is not.
  • She said that the president released all of the oil from the strategic oil reserve; he did not.
  • She also claimed that the president’s policies have led to the price of groceries going up by 29 percent.

Here’s more on the dairy farm thing from Politicus.

Other Bachmann claims that have been debunked:

  • Not a Doctor No Post-Doctorate Degree
  • Not Descended from a Long Line of Iowa Prairie Preachers
  • Not a Devoted Family Reunion Attendee
  • Not an Accidental Candidate
  • Not From a Swing District
  • Never in Charge of 23 Foster Kids at Once

Bachmann gained national exposure on a campaign of lies during the healthcare debates. Some examples of provably false statement.

"Rep. Michele Bachmann, R- Minn., made a statement from the floor of the House on July 27 in which she said the American public needed to know what the people who advise Obama about health care reform think. Specifically, she said, Dr. [Ezekiel] Emanuel "says medical care should be reserved for the nondisabled. So watch out if you're disabled."

This is a “gross distortion of the truth.”

More on the old Healthcare debate, Bachman claimed:

“On the 16th page, it says whatever health care you have now, it’s going to be gone within five years. So your current health care plan, you’re not going to have in five years. What you’re going to have is a government plan and a federal bureau is going to decide what you get or if you get anything at all.”

This is false. Under whatever version was current at the time that statement was made (I only hedge because I have no idea if that issue is still included in the actual bill) all previous health insurance would have been grandfathered and covered.

On illegal aliens getting healthcare:

“So, an illegal alien can say, ‘I want free health care for me and for my family.’ No one asks, ‘Are you a legal citizen?’ No one asks, ‘Will you show me your documentation that you’re a legal citizen?’ Which means 17 million, potentially, illegal aliens that are in the United States, would have the ability to receive taxpayer-funded health care.”

False. via FactCheck: “Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.”

More on the heathcare debate:

“…‘Death panels’ isn’t just about end-of-life counseling. Death panels are the bureaucracies that President Obama is establishing, that will -- where bureaucrats will make the decision on who gets health care, and how much. Who will have access to doctors? How quickly? What will the delays be? Because we know, this bill will include rationing.”

False. actually the bill specifically prohibits such actions.

“…comprehensive primary health services, physicals, treatment of minor acute medical conditions, referrals to follow-up for specialty care – is that abortion? Does that mean that someone’s 13-year-old daughter could walk into a sex clinic, have a pregnancy test done, be taken away to the local Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, have their abortion, be back and go home on the school bus that night? Mom and Dad are never the wiser.”

Total bullshit.

Then there was also the episode during one of the GOP primary debates involving Bachmann’s completely made up and dangerous claims about HPV vaccines which are completely false.

So you see, America; The Roots were right about Michele Bachmann. They are heroes and a national treasure.

and of course the original.
