The Left Hemispheres Podcast Ep. 05: Halloween Spooky Doom

This week Steve, Adam, and Jack discuss Doctors who claim to have seen heaven, Free speech, and Halloween Myths

(Note: We know this episode is a little late to air, sorry about that. Had some real world problems that prevented me from cutting the episode on time. However, we have a lot left over from this episode so I'm going to try and cut a bonus episode with all the stuff that didn't fit between now and Halloween. :) -Jack)

Shownotes:

This Must be Heaven by Sam Harris
Big Bang and religion mixed in Cern debate (Steve)

Blasphemy/Free Speech continued
“Such efforts focus not on the right to speak but on the possible reaction to speech — a fundamental change in the treatment of free speech in the West. “
"This is not freedom of expression, there is a limit for that. This insult of the Prophet will not be allowed."
“This is the fear I have; Anti-blasphemy laws, even if given as an edict from the United Nations, will be used and abused by people for their own ends, be they personal squabbles, political ambitions or religious xenophobia. “
Top 5 Halloween Myths Debunked (Nos, 1, 3, and 5) #5 NYT article: , a Canadian study found that sex offenders who completed treatment were far less likely to re-offend”
Ouija boards, hauntings … the utter crock of shit that the show ghosthunters is

Good show, guys. I've subscribed via iTunes just this morning.

On ghost-hunting in general, there was something that Ben Radford points out in his book Scientific Paranormal Investigations, as claims go, that ghosts are the only things said to be able to literally exist or not at will, refusing to whenever convenient so as to avoid leaving the very evidence needed to convince those pesky skeptics.
